This morning, before my alarm even had the chance to ring, I found myself wide awake. It was still dark outside, too early for a walk, so I stayed in bed a little longer, my mind swirling with thoughts and feelings. Three years ago today, Namaste Brows and Boutique opened its doors for the first time, and as I reflect on this milestone, I’m overwhelmed by the blessings, challenges, and immense growth this journey has brought into my life.
I never could have imagined the impact owning a business would have on me, both personally and professionally. From the early days of seeing the smiles of my first customers as they removed their masks, to the Uber driver who mistook my boutique for a car insurance office and encouraged me to stay persistent, these moments have shaped my experience in ways I’ll never forget. In those first few months, we saw maybe five customers a day, but I believed with all my heart that one day, it would be fifty.
Three years ago, the world was in a very different place. We wore masks, performed threading using only our necks, and had to adapt to restrictions that challenged every small business. But even with only two chairs, two mirrors, and a humble setup, I knew Namaste Brows and Boutique was meant for more. Today, we have grown not just in size but in spirit. Our boutique now boasts beautiful Nepali handicrafts, a space dedicated to creators who don’t yet have a storefront of their own, and a wall of certificates and awards that speak to the impact we’ve made.
These last three years, I’ve shown up as a student, a mentor, a leader, and most importantly, as a member of a community that has continuouly shown up for others. I started this business to have flexibility, to test my potential, and to provide for my family. While flexibility looks different now than I imagined — balancing my family’s schedule, my work, and so much more — I’m deeply grateful for the support of my husband, family, and everyone who has helped along the way.
If you asked me whether this journey was worth it, I would say without hesitation: yes. In my previous career in healthcare, I was able to touch the lives of about 100 seniors at a building. Today, as a business owner, I have the privilege of connecting with people of all ages and backgrounds, each one leaving a mark on me, just as I hope I do on them. Whether it’s doing service projects, mentoring kids through Junior Achievement, speaking to thousands of students in the Twin Cities through St.Paul Chamber, or representing my Nepali crafts at various events, boutiques and the joy and fulfillment of this journey are unmatched.
As I look forward, I know the next steps will be even bigger, and perhaps scarier. It’s time to revisit the business plan I wrote three years ago, knowing we’ve accomplished every goal we set. Now, it's time to dream bigger and plan for the next five years of Namaste Brows and Boutique. It’s not just my dream anymore — it's the dream of those who look up to me, who believe in what we are building together.
To celebrate this milestone, I invite you all to join me for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 29th at our location
(1718B Lexington Ave. N., Roseville MN 55113) time: 4-5pm, and from October 22–26th, enjoy 25% off everything in the boutique as a token of my gratitude for your love and support over these last three years. Here's to what we've built and to all that's yet to come.
With love and gratitude,
Jeena Gurung Vomhof
